My wife and I stayed at the Roanoke Island Inn while vacationing in the outer banks last week. It's a very nice hotel conveniently situated just a few hundred feet from the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse with a wonderful view of the lighthouse and bay from the breezeway just outside our room. It comes highly recommended! This view of the boardwalk and lighthouse is about 10 feet from the parking lot. This shot was a little difficult due to the windy conditions on this particular morning. The skies were so dramatic that I had to give it a try nonetheless. I shot the sky and lighthouse at a longer exposure with a small aperture so I could catch a little sunburst action through those killer clouds. I then opened up the aperture to shoot the foreground at a fast shutter speed to eliminate any blurring from the marshes blowing in the wind. Then I combined the two images in post processing. It turned out pretty well considering.
