A few weeks back, I spent a week down in the North Carolina mountains for some "rest and relaxation". Alright, not so much rest, as I was up every day at 4 A.M. and in my hotel bed by midnight......that's the schedule you have to keep if you want to catch mountain sunrises and sunsets in the summertime. Rough Ridge is just a short hike on the Kanawha Trail with spectacular views of Grandfather Mountain and the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
