Description
I returned yesterday evening from an incredible 4 day weekend with good friends down in western Kentucky for the Great American Eclipse of 2017. A big thank you goes out to my buddy Bill Fultz for inviting me along on the adventure. We visited a few arches, a cool waterfall and saw the Milky Way in all her glory. We ate awesome barbecue and became infested with numerous small ticks and microscopic mites on our hikes. But to top off the trip, we all witnessed one of the most incredible, awe inspiring spectacles I've ever seen....a total eclipse of the sun with clear skies overhead. The forecast the night before was very iffy, with hot muggy conditions, and a front approaching from the northwest. But as luck would have it, high pressure overhead held off the front just long enough to let us all view the entire duration of the eclipse. It was a day I'll never forget, spent high on a cliff overlooking the Jones Keeney Wildlife Management Area in the company of really good friends. It was hot. It was humid. I was a stinky mess. And I enjoyed every second of it. I took my first shot around 11:40 just before the eclipse started and my last around 3:00 just after it ended. I took 11 images, shot approximately 20 minutes apart, and put them all together in a pano in the order in which they were taken. I cant wait until the next one here in northeast Ohio in 7 years.
